Defected Syrians to create military council in Turkey

Several Syrian servicemen, who have settled in Turkey after a recent flight from the military, are reportedly planning to set up a military council in the country.

An activist of the Syrian opposition has told the Turkish newspaper Radikal that the servicemen who deserted their posts in Damascus, Homs and Lazkiye have now settled in a Turkey based Free Officers Army.

He said that the commanders joining the Free Syrian Army are now going to unite the defected Syrians in a “military council”, in addition to their efforts to coordinate weapons’ supply and financial resources.

At meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, the chief of the Syrian National Council Burhan Ghalioun had unveiled plans to open such council in the country.
