The Defender of Human Rights of Armenia (Ombudsman) has published annual reports based on the results of the researches done in a number of state bodies in Armenia.
The Ombudsman's first report is on the developments in the activities of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, where according to the Ombudsman's assessments, along with some positive developments there are many shortcomings and problems.
According to the Ombudsman, "the Ministry of Justice has not taken sufficient measures for increasing notary service quality. The notary offices required from citizens different-sized payments for the same notary service."
According to the report, in some cases demanders' rights have been violated by the Compulsory Enforcement Service (CES) employees; and in penitentiary institutions the medical aid and the quality of food for detainees and convicted persons were not sufficient.
