le=”text-align: justify; “>At the 7th congress of the Heritage party, Board Chairman Raffi Hovannisian spoke of the external and internal challenges facing Armenia.
Armenian citizens’ freedom and involvement in national administration are restricted. The government is not accountable to the people, using power to consolidate its political and economic monopolies, without realizing national interests. With respect to domestic political problems, Hovannisian said: “This party-rule system must be put an end to and the Republic of Armenia must be firmly established.” The ruling party’s demands are being satisfied, whereas the party must be at the public’s service, he added. Hovannisian is also concerned over Armenia’s foreign debt reaching US $4bn. According to him, the funds were used in personal interests rather than for the country’s development.
