Georgia's Upper Lars border checkpoint has been closed due to heavy snowfalls and the threat of avalanche following an overnight storm that also blanketed Armenia.
The passageway – a major communications trade-way between Iran, Armenia, Georgia and Russia – is expected to be shut for the next three days, and forecasts call for continued snow.
