Persian Gulf countries recall diplomats from Syria

Persian Gulf oil monarchs, allies of the West in the anti-Syria campaign, announced Tuesday its members were recalling their ambassadors from Syria and expelling Syria”s envoys from their respective countries.

Such decision came a day after United States and the United Kingdom took the same action, though both western powers have made clear that it does not mean a total break in bilateral relations with Syria, Prensa Latina reported.

Saudi Arabia made the official announcement representing the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), also made up of Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar.

Those six oil states are the main Middle East allies of the Western powers in the hostility against Syria. Saudi Arabia had even demanding the rest of the Arab League member countries to adopt the same position.
