The National Assembly of Armenia approved in the first reading amendments to the laws 'On Regulations' and 'On Creating an Interim Commission on Ethics' which will regulate the rules for lawmakers' behavior and the terms prescribed by the Constitution.
Members of the opposition Heritage parliamentary faction, who are against the bill, say that the new amendments will give no essential results.
"Don't the factions have levers to keep their lawmakers within the frameworks of mere ethical norms?" queried Larisa Alaverdyan from the Heritage faction. "And if lawmakers are not afraid to break their oath, to break the Constitution, then they will not be more limited and pressed because of the proposed amendments."
