October 27, March 1 tragedies were ok'ed by the Kremlin – oppositionist

The September 27, 1999 terrorist attack in Armenia’s National Assembly and the March 2008 post-electoral tragic events in Yerevan were ok’ed by the Russian authorities, an oppositionist has said.

At a news conference on Thursday, Suren Surenyants of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) addressed the disputed parliamentary polls in Russia, noting that the Kremlin’s decreased influence on Armenia’s political life would be better for the country.

“It’s the country which restricts our independence. And that’s first of all due to the program called Property for debt. Secondly, I am confident that the October 27 and March 1 [tragedies] were ok’ed by the Kremlin,” he added.

Speaking of the upcoming electoral processes in Armenia, the politician said he expects them to be qualitatively different.
