MP for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia Karen Avagyan has lashed out at Arthur Sakunts, Head of the Vanadzor Office of Helsinki Citizen’s Assembly, saying his “anti-Armenian stance” is lavishly paid by foreign grants.
Speaking at the parliament on Tuesday, Avagyan said that Sakunts spared no efforts recently to tell the head of NATO that Armenia is violating the agreement on Conventional Arms signed in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1999.
“This person who considers himself as a human rights defender has surpassed all the limits,” said Avagyan, adding that in Brussels Sakunts spoke of what he called “one of his favorite topics” – the army – by presenting it in a way that an enemy would wish to see it.
