Au Revoir: Caf=?UTF-8?B?w6kg?=de Paris falls to municipal will, despite contributions to beautify Abovyan Street

On Saturday, an Abovyan Street landmark fell victim to municipal mandate, as the sidewalk section of Café de Paris was dismantled in keeping with newly elected Mayor Taron Margaryan's promise – "to return sidewalks to Yerevan residents."

A few months ago, a decision was made by Yerevan municipality to empty the wide sidewalks of Abovyan Street, removing different shops and cafes. Some residents are skeptical whether the law will also be enforced against a number of shops and boutiques that also stand on the sidewalk – some even blocking other storefronts – and that are believed to be traceable to influential businessmen.  Read more...
