In the second round of London Chess Classic super tournament, Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronyan suffered a defeat by the United States Hikaru Nakamura.
Until the 32nd move, Aronyan unquestionably had advantages over the rival, but the scarcity of time in the last couple of minutes turned out crucial for Armenia’s top chess player. Both sportsmen had to make eight moves in just two minutes. Aronyan continued his struggle and gave in only after 52 moves.
In the first round, the Armenian grandmaster had tied his scores with England’s Luke McShane.
