US-Armenians urge Obama to recognize Genocide

The Armenian Assembly of America and the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues urged US President Barack Obama to fulfill his promise to recognize the Armenian Genocide

According to Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly) the move came as part of efforts by US-Armenians this week on the eve of the 96th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

“The cause of genocide affirmation and prevention is a fundamental issue for all of humanity,” the Assembly’s letter to the President stated.

The Assembly’s letter recounted President Obama’s prior statements and direct acknowledgment of the Armenian Genocide and urged the President to “fully and unequivocally affirm the historical fact of the Armenian Genocide and the proud chapter in US history in helping to save the survivors of the first genocide of the twentieth century.”
