Putin sees Russia in top 5 world economies in 10 years

Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said his country must become “one of the world’s top five economies by gross domestic product volume” in a “decade of sustainable development.”

According to the RTTNews, he said that Russia will double its Reserve Fund to 1.43 trillion roubles ($50 billion) by the year-end, he told the State Duma in his last speech in the Lower House of Parliament on Wednesday.

In a speech highlighting his government’s achievements in 2010, ranging from economic growth to new infrastructure and social development, Putin insisted that Russia needs to be stronger and avoid experiments with “unjustified liberalism,” which he fears will be detrimental to the nation’s sovereignty as it would allow outsiders to dictate terms of development.
