Local meat manufacturers fined for unfair competition

Under the decision of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC), ten local manufactures of meat products will be fined 500,000 drams ($1,300) each for unfair competition.

The commission reports that on some meat products of "Atenk", "Geghard Meat Factory", "Bari Samaratsi", "Mush" (and some other companies') the date of production was missing on packages and they were brought to the market in violation of the law which may have misled the consumer.

The companies must withdraw these products from the sale within five days and exclude such violations in the future. The SCPEC will also provide the results of its study to the State Service for Food Safety of the Ministry of Agriculture.
