Human Rights Watch on Monday urged the United Nations and the international community to launch an investigation into the shootings by Syrian security forces against unarmed protesters, Channel 6 News reported.
The killing spree by security forces in 14 separate Syrian towns happened on Friday, leaving at least 76 and possibly as many as 112 anti-government protesters killed. It sparked worldwide condemnation.
According to Human Rights Watch, an international inquiry should be launched that addresses the killings on Friday as well as other possible human rights violations committed since anti-government protests began in mid-March.
