Economic growth to 'exceed expected rate'

Armenia’s 2011 economic growth will exceed the expected rate, says a senior parliamentarian.

At a news conference on Tuesday, the head of the National Assembly’s Committee on Economic Affairs, Vardan Ayvazyan said the Central Bank’s measures to suppress inflation produced positive results in Armenia, contributing to a 5.9% growth in the economy.

He said prices on food products are not expected to go up in the coming months, while the technical maintenance and cadastre systems will see serious reforms. Ayvazyan also spoke of license simplification procedures, saying that the licenses required for private entrepreneurs have been cut in half.

Speaking the Armenian-Russian business conference, he highly praised the economic collaboration level between the two countries.
