Dollars and Sense: PM says slight dram depreciation normal

A slight depreciation of the dram, according to experts, has both subjective and objective reasons, which may create dangerous expectations among citizens; however, the government insists that everything is moderate and normal.

Since early April, the Armenian dram was depreciated by about 3 percent, becoming 376 drams from 366 drams (per dollar).

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, commenting on the depreciation of the national currency, told journalists that this is a normal phenomenon in case of having a free-floating exchange rate.
