Darchinyan wins Perez

Vic Darchinyan won the vacant IBO bantamnweight title when his fight against Yonnhy Perez was stopped in the fifth round in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

According to Suprsrport.com, Perez was cut near one of his eyes in a clash of heads and a doctor advised the referee to stop the bout. Each of the judges had Darchinyan 50-44 ahead at that stage.

The action was over 1 minute 7 seconds into the fifth round after an absorting start.

Darchinyan, an Australia-based Armenian, landed a solid punch in the opening round and had Perez on the floor in the second.
Boxing brilliantly and showing all the aggression that goes with his nickname of Raging Bull, Darchinyan was in charge throughout.
