The Armenian Government has passed a decision to open a 911 hotline telephone service in the country, the minister of emergency situations has said.
Armen Yeritsyan made the statement at a Yerevan-hosted international conference on developing the disaster risk management in Armenia.
Addressing the disaster situation in Armenian, the minister introduced the Armenian National Platform on reducing disasters in the frameworks of the Hugo Action plan.
“We currently live in a country facing a high disaster risk. Armenia has more than 3,000 mudslide zones, which means the ministry has to take serious efforts towards preventing disasters,” he said.
As to the 911 hotline he said the service will be launched by the end of this year.
