Armenia's Prosecutor-General Aghvan Hovsepyan and representatives of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) who arrived in Yerevan October 21 have met to discuss the fraud investigation that may link Armenia to America's biggest insurance fraud claim.
U.S. Embassy Resident Legal Advisor Steve Kessler, U.S. FBI Legal Attaché Kevin Donovan and FBI Regional Security Officer Lance Leveque were among the participants of the meeting.
On October 13, U.S. law enforcement officials reported that New York and Los Angeles-based American-Armenian organized crime enterprises, headed by Armenians, allegedly stole doctors’ and patients' identities and used the fraud information to extort more that $100 million from the U.S. federal Medicare system.
