Exploiting Uranium Mines in Zangezur Forces Armenians To Leave The Land.

The low level of technology of the mining industry in the existing mines is causing severe harm to the surrounding environment and people’s health, say members of the “Sardarapat” movement.

The movement’s initiating group has issued a statement in which it argues that the elimination or burying of poisonous wastes that emerged during the exploitation of mines is uncontrollable in the stages of eliminating the effects during and after exploitation.

Severe damage has already been caused to the nature, people’s health and territories near mining industry enterprises in Alaverdi, Akhtala, Kajaran and Drmbon. The lack of statistics on the real state of the surrounding environment and people’s health and the needless confidentiality of information conceal the devastating situation.  Read more...
