Armwenia's Deputy Education Minister Shifts Blame On Students Over Corruption

To exclude any corruption risks in the sphere of education the Armenian students should study well, Armenia's Deputy Minister of Education and Science Ara Avetisyan said at a press conference today.

"To pay for not studying is shameful for the given person at first," said Mr Avetisyan.

A recent study found out that the most corrupted sphere in Armenia is education.

Further he spoke about the visits by ministry's special expert group paid to some private universities to see whether the universities meet all the standards stipulated by the law.

"This will be a non-stop process not only in private but also in state universities," said he adding that such visits will in the future be paid in colleges too.

The licenses of at least 14 private universities were suspended this year due to such visits. About 2000 students have been left out of their universities as a result.
