Sharmazanov: "We've cancelled our rally to avoid further tensions"

Republican Party spokesperson Edward Sharmazanov told reporters that they had cancelled today's scheduled rally at Freedom Square in order not to incite further tensions in the country.

"As a responsible political force, we have never taken, nor will we take steps that can lead to additional tension in our country. We have no desire to become an unwillingly participants in escapades full of unconstitutional sloganeering."

Sharmazanov said he was confident that the people would soon unite at Freedom Square to celebrate the victory of freedom and democracy registered in the February 18 presidential election.
