The leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party has been demonstrating an increasing interest in the Nayirit Rubber Plant, the paper has learned.
Citing its sources, it says Gagik Tsarukyan is among the potential purchasers of the plant. His intention has been known since 2006 (under second President Robert Kocharyan), but the businessman-politician could not put the plan into practice without Kocharyan's "active intervention", says the paper. But Tsarukyan is now thought to be in a more complicated position given the bid of a stronger purchaser, the Russian Itera Group, which has reportedly offered a relatively lower price.
All now depends on the company: in case abandons its bid, Tsarukyan will try to acquire Nayirit for a lower price, the paper adds. So there are a couple of key issues expected to determine Tsarukyan's conduct in the course of the presidential election, the paper says, referring to the second president's connections with Nayirit, Itera Group's negotiations with with Armenia's Government over the possibility of assuming the plant's management.
