Managers of a scientific project being carried out in Armenia believe in the coming years it will give a great boost to the country's economy and the general advancement of local science as a direction of strategic importance.
As part of the project called CANDLE (Center for the Advancement of Natural Discoveries using Light Emission) two third-generation synchrotron light accelerators will have been built in Armenia by 2017. The first of them, AREAL, will be finished next year.
Scientists say that these accelerators enable them to study the structure of any type of material from the cell down to atomic levels. The accelerators will also make it possible to conduct modern scientific studies in the entire domain of fundamental and applied research – in physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, environmental studies, material studies, pharmaceutics, in the fields of nanoelectronics and micro-production.
