Chairman of Armenian National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan will not step down before the 2013 presidential elections, spokesman for the NA speaker Gohar Poghosyan said, speaking to Tert.am.
The NA speaker is going to head the electoral headquarters of Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan. The decision was made at the yesterday's sitting of the Executive body.
Six months before the May 6 parliamentary poll, Hovik Abrahamyan resigned, heading the pre-electoral headquarters of the ruling Republican party.
Speaking to reporters that time the parliament speaker said he did it to effectively head the works of the headquarters.
Asked why he resigned that time, and does not do it now, Gohar Poghosyan said, "Because that time he was heading the electoral headquarters of the Republican party."
