The Armenian president has issued several instructions for enhancing law enforcement procedures.
Based on the results of a Monday meeting with the heads of law enforcement agencies, Serzh Sargsyan asked the cabinet members to conduct comprehensive studies of the material-technical and social conditions of those agencies' employees and submit relevant proposals within two months.
The minister of justice was instructed to amend the draft Criminal Procedure Code taking into consideration the practical problems raised at the working discussion, as well as the legal positions reflected in the European Court of Human Rights rulings.
The prosecutor general, the chief of Police and the head of the Special Investigative Service were given a month's time to submit written proposals on the methods of arranging inquests and other relevant procedures, particularly those relating to forensic examinations and investigative operations. They were also asked to take necessary measures to ensure a proper implementation of procedural duties by prosecutors, investigators and the heads of the investigative subdivisions.
