Armenian FM meets Costa Rican officials in San Jose

FM Edward Nalbandyan started his official visit to San Jose with an October 25 meeting with Costa Rica's parliament speaker, Victor Emilio Granados.
Greeting Armenia's top diplomat, the Costa Rican official said that the bilateral relations between mark a new beginning which will certainly have a positive role in the development of future cooperation.
Thanking for the reception, Nalbandyan emphasized that he visit is aimed at establishing new ties with the Latin America region. He said Armenia attaches importance to developing economic, political and cultural ties with Costa Rica, adding that a parliamentary cooperation between the two countries may have a key role in such efforts.
The Costa Rican official promised to undertake the formation of a parliamentary group.
According to the Foreign Ministry's press office, the sides also exchanged thoughts over international and regional issues. FM Nalbandyan briefed Grenados on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement process, noting that Armenia's approaches are in line with the international community's positions reflected in the statements by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing states. He also addressed Azerbaijan's continuing rejections of the proposals made.
"The more Azerbaijan keeps hampering the three co-chairs' efforts towards resolving the conflict, the more commendable decisions like the resolution passed by Australia's New South Wales state will be adopted to pave way to the international recognition of Genocide," he said.
Later in the day, Nalbandyan met with the chairman of Costa Rica parliament's Standing Committee on International Relations and Foreign Trade, Maria Jeannette Ruiz Delgado, and Foreign Minister Enrique Castillo Barrantes.
Nalbandyan and his Costa Rican counterpart agreed on elaborating documents for accrediting resident ambassadors and appointing honorary consuls in Yerevan and San Jose, expanding the legal contractual cooperation, establishing a closer partnership in international organizations and relaxing visas. They both agreed to sign the documents in the course of Barrantes' scheduled visit to Yerevan.
Both foreign ministers highlighted the role of high technologies, education, agriculture, tourism and culture as sectors with a high cooperation potential.
Minister Barantes briefed Nalbandyan on his country's role in the American continent and its involvement in the regional integration processes.
Nalbandyan, in turn, addressed Armenia's foreign policy priorities, local and international efforts towards settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the Armenian diplomacy's activities towards ensuring regional security.
Finishing his visit to the Latin American states, Nalbandyan set off on a trip to Paris where he is scheduled to meet with the Azerbaijani foreign minister and the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
