A 350-year-old Armenian Catholic church of Diyarbakir has been saved from destruction and turned into a training center.
The church built in 1650-1700 was reconstructed 4 years ago and has been turned into Mother and Child Training Center. Some 80 children living in socially insecure conditions are getting education there.
"Houses seem to be inside of one another, the streets are narrow, and children do not have playgrounds. They have to play in streets. In this way we have cut the children from the street and solved their health development issues," the head of Suri village Mustafa Kilic said.
One of the halls of the churchhas turned into carpet weaving class where young mothers get specialization and invest in their family budget.
