Political persecutions past in Armenia

The time of political persecutions is in the past in Armenia. The country has entered the epoch of new democratic values, Spokesman for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Vice-Speaker of Armenia's parliament Eduard Sharmazanov told Tert.am.Mr Sharmazanov commented on the report on Armenia's ex-FM and founder of the Civilitas Foundation Vartan Oskanian having been summoned to the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has to offer testimony in relation to a criminal case regarding money laundering and illegally acquired funds."I consider Vartan Oskanian's opinion to be at least strange. Armenia has over recent period seen reforms aimed to develop democratic freedoms, with assessments made by international agencies, as well as by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's, being striking evidence thereof. To inform Mr Oskanian, we are living in a country fostering democratic values," Sharmazanov said. He also advised political figures aga inst politicizing everything as it is Armenia's Constitution that provides for the functions of the judicial, legislative and executive powers.
