Releasing 150 cubic meters of water from Lake Sevan is a more positive rather than a negative phenomenon, according to Gevorg Poghosyan, an environmentalist.
"Judging by the statistics, I don't find the release of that quantity of water negative. It is more positive, and the water level will keep remaining high," the expert told Tert.am, commenting on the Government's decision to allow the exploitation of the lake's resources for meeting the irrigation water demand.
Poghosyan said that in case the government adopts the right approach to the cleaning of Sevan, the move could be considered the legislative's best decision over the past years.
Earlier today, the cabinet members approved a measure allowing rural economies to make up the irrigation water deficit at the expense of the Sevan-Hrazdan energy-irrigation system.
