Gun shots were fired from a vehicle into a Yerevan city-center park Tuesday at around midnight, resulting in several minor injuries, according to police.
The shooting is being seen as an attack on transvestites who are known to gather in the park near City Hall, some of whom work as prostitutes.
Police have arrested one or more young men aged 20-22. Part of the investigation launched by police is expected to determine whether the incident is linked to recent intolerance toward sexual minorities following a May 8 bomb attack on DIY pub, a Yerevan club frequented by gays and lesbians.
