International recognition of Armenian Genocide

There are numerous witnesses’ testimonies, laws, resolutions decrees, and international organizations’ decisions substantiating, recognizing and confirming the fact of the Armenian Genocide.

Beginning 1915, the governments of different states adopted resolutions to condemn the massacres of the ethnic Armenians on the territory of the Ottoman Empire.

The United States passed similar resolutions three times (in 1916, 1919 and 1920) but none of them were powerful enough to stop the violent acts of the Ottoman Empire. France, the United Kingdom and Russia adopted a joint resolution in1 1915.

The massacres have also received a wide criticism by the world community, including the Council of Europe (1998, 2001) and the European Union. UN committees and the World Council of Churches have also condemned the atrocious acts.
