Tens of thousands of people are making their annual pilgrimage to the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan on Tuesday in commemoration of 1.5 million innocent victims of mass killings and deportations in Ottoman Turkey at the beginning of last century.
Leaving aside their political differences and reciprocal accusations amid a heated parliamentary election race, representatives of Armenian political forces took a "day off" from the campaign to join in the national day of mourning for the 97th annual commemoration of what was the first Genocide of the 20th century.
Some of them made organized pilgrimages to the hilltop memorial at Tsitsernakabert in the Armenian capital on April 24.
