Student, 21, remains alive after suicide attempt from balcony

A female student of the Yerevan State University (YSU) attempted to commit suicide by throwing herself off a twelfth-floor balcony on Monday, but fortunately remained alive thanks to clothes lines.

A special rescue team arriving on the scene found A.H.,21, on metallic ropes, photo reporter Gagik Shamshyan told Aravot.am. They reportedly pulled her body down and gave it to ambulance workers. A. H. was later hospitalized with serious bodily injuries.

The neighbors told the police that A.H., a fourth-year student at the University, had certain psychological problems.

The Investigative Department of the police has launched an inquest in to the circumstances of the incident. An expert examination has been assigned to find out whether she suffers from a mental disease.  Read more... (129 words)
