Renowned Armenia mechanic engineer Sergey Hambardzumyan celebrates his 90th birthday jubilee today.
The talented scholar was born on March 17, 1922. In 1942, he graduated from the Yerevan State Engineering University (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering). Four years later – in 1946 – he successfully defended a thesis, obtaining the degree of a PhD candidate of sciences. In 1952, Hambardzumyan was awarded a doctoral degree, after defending a dissertation at the Moscow Institute of Mechanical Problems.
In 1953, he was granted the title of professor.
Sergey Hambardzumyan is a correspondent member of Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences and a guest member of the Russian Academy. He also holds the title of Academician of the Cosmonautics Academy.
